David Nefesh - Lyrics

COME MORNING      IN JACOB'S SHADOW

COME MORNING

Maybe I’m not doing so badly after all
Lately I’ve been wasting many moments
Bogged down by death’s hurried call

I’ve been surrounded by love in four corners
I wish it would be enough to just be loving you

Know your beauty shines
And there’s so little time to get tangled in tomorrow
A skipping stone knows not where it goes
And that’s just like me
We all risk pain and sorrow

And the bottom line that I have found repeatedly
Is that yesterday and tomorrow don’t constitute reality

Hey, seize the day
‘cause the sun may close its golden doors come morning
Hey, seize the day
Feel the love
Kick your heels up
Go reveal your nature’s glory

I think that we’re both okay in this strange parade after all
What things are, and then what they’ll be--it’s a mystery
We’re all learning to crawl

And the bottom line that I have found repeatedly
Is that yesterday and tomorrow don’t constitute reality

Hey, seize the day
‘cause the sun may close its golden doors come morning
Hey, seize the day
Feel the love
Kick your heels up
Go reveal your nature’s glory

IN JACOB'S SHADOW

How must've Jacob felt
when he knelt before his love
threw his whole heart out to her
as ordained from above

He told Rachel's Daddy
he would toil hard for her
Laban went and tested him
made his love defer

Rachel oh come to me
I cannot wait some more
my heart's dripping below my knees
it glues me to your door

and if seven years are needed
for us to find the shore
well some girls are just worth waiting for

Laban said if you love my daughter
show it with your sweat
he tore a piece of Jacob's heart
asked for seven years no less

Time had passed and Jacob cried
but it hardened his good heart
against the pain of withheld kisses
he stored for his lark

Rachel oh come to me
I cannot wait some more
my heart's dripping below my knees
it glues me to your door

and if seven years are needed
for us to find the shore
well some girls are just worth waiting for

Rachel I cannot sleep
in the workers’ lair
the morning breeze it teases me
your scent is in the air

His energy and passion
she brought out the range
it made those seven lonely years
worth the whole exchange

Even if his longing
led him to a hole
her loving spirit broke the dark
it nestled his old soul

Rachel oh come to me
I cannot wait some more
my heart's dripping below my knees
it glues me to your door

and if seven years are needed
for us to find the shore
well some girls are just worth waiting for
